Camping chairs come in all shapes, sizes, and have multiple functions. I confess that I used to scoff at the idea of taking a seat into the woods, and would count on Mother Nature to provide a stump or a rock. And while that idea still can work, that extra few pounds for a comfortable chair is well worth it at the end of a busy day!
Some chairs have cup holders, coolers, and even can be worn as a backpack! Other chairs are like benches and can accommodate a whole den of hungry scouts (the one pictured below can seat 6 adults!). And other chairs weigh less than 2 pounds and fold out to be a nice stool for your evening meal or morning cup of coffee. It all depends on what you need (or want).
The chairs below all fold up into a duffle-sized sack…even that bench folds into a 18x16x25 inch sack. The key question to ask yourself is: How far do you have to carry it? If your vehicle is a mere hundred yards away, weight is a lesser concern than it would be if you needed to hike a mile or two to your campsite.
